SEATTLE — Shortstop Marcus Semien was added to the A’s 25-man roster Thursday after being sidelined nearly three months by a fractured wrist.
He takes the spot of starting pitcher Jharel Cotton, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with the blister that he’s been dealing with on his right thumb. To clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Semien, right-hander Andrew Triggs was transferred to the 60-day DL with the torn labrum in his left hip.
The upshot of this roster shuffle is that Franklin Barreto, Oakland’s top prospect who has been handling shortstop lately, stays up with the big league club for now.
