Sean Manaea receives special honor for no-hitter against Red Sox

ARLINGTON, Texas — When you do something as special as Sean Manaea did, the awards are bound to come soon.

The A’s pitcher was named American League Co-Player of the Week along with Baltimore Orioles shortstop Manny Machado for the week ending April 22 after tossing a no-hitter against the Boston Red Sox Saturday night at the Oakland Coliseum, becoming the 12th A’s pitcher to throw a no-hitter and the seventh in Oakland history.

Manaea received the award for the first time in his career became the first A’s player to receive the honor since Yonder Alonso on May 7, 2017.
