HOUSTON – The A’s changed course on Sean Manaea Saturday to Sunday, opting to put the left-handed starter on the disabled list with left shoulder tightness.
The club could argue that it’s not much of a course correction, given that there was only a one-day differential between the time they hope Manaea will be ready and the 10-day minimum for players on the DL.
“We were skipping him a start for sure, and that would have gone to the last day of his DL,” manager Bob Melvin said less than a day after he’d said it was probable Oakland would not employ the disabled list for Manaea.
