MINNEAPOLIS – The A’s intimate association with the disabled list continued unabated Wednesday with left-handed reliever Sean Doolittle going on the 10-day DL.
Doolittle is the 11th player in the first five weeks of the season to land on the DL. The A’s are saying he has a left shoulder strain. He had what the A’s are calling a similar issue in 2016 and it cost him two months and 59 games missed.
In addition, the A’s put right-handed pitcher Cesar Valdez on the designated for assignment list, meaning the club has 10 days to trade him, release him or, if he clears waivers, resign him to a minor league contract.
