The Atlanta Braves are still involved in talks for Oakland Athletics right-hander Sonny Gray, a source told MLB Network's Jon Morosi, confirming a report from Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
Gray, 27, is regarded as one of the best pitchers available at the trade deadline. The A's ace is 6-4 with a 3.66 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in 16 starts this season after struggling with injuries and posting career-highs in losses and ERA in 2016.
Morosi notes that the Braves are looking for long-term assets and Gray would fit that mold: he's under club control until 2020.
