LAKE BUENA VISTA, Florida — After a blockbuster deal here Wednesday morning, a Winter Meetings domino might be falling into the A’s lap.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported that the A’s are closing in on a deal for Stephen Piscotty, 26, the type of right-handed hitting outfielder they’ve been targeting all off-season.
Piscotty became easier to pry away after the St. Louis Cardinals dealt for All-Star outfielder Marcell Ozuna from the Miami Marlins earlier Wednesday.
The trade would represent a Bay Area homecoming for Piscotty, who went to Amador Valley High in Pleasanton and attended Stanford.
