Relationship between A’s Semien and Piscotty goes back to teen years

LOS ANGELES — A’s outfielder Stephen Piscotty was a stranger to most of his new teammates when he walked into the clubhouse for the first time this spring. But when he and Marcus Semien crossed paths, it was like stepping into a time machine.

Piscotty and Semien go way back. Both Bay Area natives first squared off on the diamond as high schoolers when Semien’s St. Mary’s-Berkeley Panthers would match up for interleague games with Piscotty’s Amador Valley Dons. Both successful players, the two became teammates in the summer of 2008 to play for the Danville Hoots of the American Amateur Baseball Congress.
