"He was squaring it up, had good swings, got on base," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "He'd been struggling a little bit lately, and he just kind of played that momentum that he had. It's good to see him [do that]."
In doing so, Davis became the first player to score four runs or more in a game in which his team scored five runs or fewer since May 10, 2014, when Jimmy Rollins did it for the Phillies. It's also only the fourth time since 1913 that an A's player has accomplished the feat, the most recent being Daric Barton on Aug.
