Rajai Davis leans on Jackie Robinson in times like these

MINNEAPOLIS – News that Baltimore center fielder Adam Jones was the victim of racial slurs and having debris thrown at him from the stands in Boston Monday night is a reminder that baseball isn’t immune from society’s ills.

A’s center fielder Rajai Davis acknowledges that, but at the same time says he does what he can to minimize its impact on him as a black man.

“I’m pretty good at blocking things out,” Davis said before Tuesday’s game against the Twins, his first game off the disabled list. “We know who came before: Jackie (Robinson). We don’t know the half of what he went through.
