Possible audition for A’s Sonny Gray not good against Astros

The Houston Astros may be getting cold feet about trading for Sonny Gray. Though it’s possible they were impressed by how the A’s former ace hung around after getting smacked for five runs in the first inning on Tuesday night.

The Athletics could never come back from the sudden deficit, losing 8-4, teasing the 15,000 fans at the Coliseum enough by scoring four runs to climb back into the game that they stuck around. Oakland has now lost two games to Houston after sweeping the Yankees in a four-game series.

Houston has the best record in the majors at 48-24 but are in the market for a starting pitcher who’s enjoyed success.
