Opinion: For the Oakland A’s, there’s no place like home

When Peralta Community College District trustees decided this month to end negotiations with the Oakland A’s, it marked the latest setback for the team in its Whac-A-Mole process to find a new ballpark site.

The A’s have been searching for their Field of Dreams for the past 12 years of John Fisher’s ownership. They have artist’s renderings of proposed ball yards at Cisco Field in Fremont; Diridon Station in San Jose; and Victory Court, Coliseum City, Uptown, Coliseum Swap Meet, Howard Terminal and, now, the Peralta site adjacent to Laney College, all in Oakland.

A’s management has said it has no Plan B for an alternative ballpark location.
