Olson stays hot, powers A’s past Tigers

DETROIT — Despite a last minute scramble to find a starting pitcher, the A’s bats showed up ready to roll on Monday night in Detroit, using a fast start to blast their way to a 8-3 win over the Tigers.

Jedd Lowrie delivered an RBI in each of his first three plate appearances, and Matt Olson hit a two-run homer in the four-run third inning to spot the A’s a 5-0 lead against Detroit starter Buck Farmer.

It was the fourth consecutive game with a long ball for Olson, who now has 22 home runs in 172 at-bats this season.
