BOSTON – Jed Lowrie finished a home run short of the cycle, and Matt Olson hit his 10th home run in his past 15 games to power the A’s to a 7-3 win over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night at Fenway Park.
The A’s offense broke out a day after combining for one run on just three hits in an 11-1 loss to open the three-game series.
The Athletics, who showed up in Boston fresh off a four-game sweep of the Houston Astros that saw the team score 41 runs, wasted no time getting to Red Sox starter Doug Fister for four runs in the first inning and then two more in the third to avoid clinching their third straight losing season.
