Olson (hamstring) likely done for season

OAKLAND -- A's first baseman Matt Olson, the rookie who has made homering a hobby, will likely be shut down for the season with a left hamstring injury.

Olson, who suffered the injury during the seventh inning of Sunday's win over Texas, said Monday it was "a little worse than yesterday." He was scheduled for an MRI later in the evening.

"It's still pretty tight," Olson said. "Not that great."

Given the nature of typical hamstring injuries, manager Bob Melvin didn't sound optimistic about seeing Olson back in the batter's box during the club's final seven games.
