The A’s will have a second left-hander in the bullpen for the three-game series with the Tigers, Eric O’Flaherty being activated from the disabled list Tuesday.
To make room on the roster for O’Flaherty, Oakland optioned right-handed pitcher Angel Castro to Triple-A Nashville for the second time this season.
O’Flaherty was 0-2 with an 11.57 ERA with the A’s for the first month of the season, and he finally went on the disabled list on May 2 with a strained left shoulder.
He’s been on an injury rehabilitation assignment since May 27, pitching both for Nashville and Class-A Stockton, pitching in two games, allowing no runs or walks.
