More answers than questions

Whispers of some near-$300 million deals for starters on a now-en vogue starting pitching market are floating about, and a long list of expensive free agents are awaiting price tags. The Oakland A’s are rarely, if ever, ones to be first at that dog bowl. And, this season, they don’t necessarily have to be.

“We have a really good foundation, a lot of slots filled,” A’s vice president of baseball operations Billy Beane said on Monday.
