The Los Angeles Angels have talked with the Oakland Athletics about third baseman Brett Lawrie, reports Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Fletcher reports that the A's are looking for upgrades at second and third base, with third base the biggest need with David Freese entering free agency. Fletcher says Freese is the top choice at third base for the Angels, "but his market is moving slowly."
Beyond Freese, turning 33 next season, and Juan Uribe, turning 37, the free agent third base market is quite thin, and a high-potential inexpensive and younger third baseman may be more interesting to the Angels as they seek improvement on their third place finish in 2015.
