The A’s have have made sure to secure a contract with one of baseball’s premier sluggers.
The club announced Wednesday it has reached an agreement on a one-year deal with Khris Davis for the 2018 season to avoid arbitration.
Davis set career-highs in both home runs (43) and RBIs (110) last season, becoming the first player in A’s history since Jimmie Foxx to put together back-to-back 40 home run seasons. Davis’ 85 home runs over the past two seasons are second most in the majors, trailing only Giancarlo Stanton (86) over that span.
The salary numbers of the deal were not disclosed.
