Oakland A’s patchwork rotation continues to evolve as injuries mount

The Oakland A’s rotation took yet another hit over the weekend, as Daniel Gossett left his start on Sunday with elbow tightness. The bullpen picked him up and the A’s won the game, but the greater point remains that this is the third time in less than three weeks that they’ve lost a starter mid-game to an injury. The right-hander officially went on the 10-day disabled list on Tuesday, the team announced.

The A’s already had a full rotation’s worth of starters on the DL, even before losing Gossett. Jharel Cotton and Paul Blackburn went down in the spring, Andrew Triggs and Brett Anderson were hurt on back-to-back days in May, and Kendall Graveman is now on the Triple-A Nashville DL with a forearm strain.
