Oakland, Alameda County attorneys gear up for court battle over Coliseum

OAKLAND — Though the city is in direct talks with the A’s to sell the baseball team its 50 percent share of the Oakland Coliseum for $85 million, it also is proceeding with a lawsuit to stop the same deal between Alameda County and the A’s.

Despite public statements from Oakland City Council members indicating the city was close to dropping the lawsuit — per the A’s demand — both the city’s attorneys and the county’s attorneys have geared up to go to court Thursday morning to argue whether Alameda County Superior Court Judge Frank Roesch should grant a preliminary injunction against the county in the case.
