MLB’s fun time: A’s, all other teams get new uniforms

Think you have trouble identifying players on the A’s now? Just wait until the weekend of Aug. 25-27.

Thanks to Major League Baseball’s initiative to put a little more fun back into its game, the A’s and every other MLB team will wear newly designed youth-league inspired uniforms and caps. And, instead of surnames, players will have nicknames on the backs of their jerseys as part of the inaugural “Players Weekend.”

Say goodbye to Sean Manaea, Jharel Cotton, Bruce Maxwell, Chad Pinder, Marcus Semien and Matt Joyce; and hello to “Da Kid,” “Squeaky,” “Baby Prince,” “Chi,” “Mahkus” and “DJ SS.
