MLB decides not to count A’s ‘free game’ toward attendance figures

Rather than saddle the A’s with the indignity of having a zero or something close to it next to their official attendance from Tuesday night’s ‘free game,’ Major League Baseball said Wednesday it won’t count the game at all toward its crowd count.

In erasing the game from its attendance records, MLB has essentially doffed its cap to the A’s for opening their doors and allowing more than 46,000 fans into the Coliseum for free.
