OAKLAND -- What a difference a continent makes.
Eight days ago, Mike Fiers didn't even make it to the fourth inning as the Mariners worked him for five earned runs in three innings. On Thursday, Fiers pitched six shutout innings, allowing just one hit, as the A's blanked the Angels 4-0 in their home opener.
"I was really keeping them off balance I thought," Fiers said. "There were a couple of hard hit balls right at people and we made some good defensive plays to get me out of some innings. But overall I feel like I did my job.
