OAKLAND — Daniel Mengden can’t catch a break at the Coliseum and the end result is the A’s leaving town Thursday with a series split against the Texas Rangers after a 6-3 loss.
Mengden (0-2) was knocked down but not out in the second inning off a line drive by Rougned Odor and managed to pitch into the sixth inning, but it wasn’t enough to prevent another defeat, dropping his career record in home games to 0-10.
The Rangers led 4-0 after the second, and although they managed to chip away at the lead, the A’s didn’t do enough damage to fall to 3-5 on the season as they embark on an eight-game road trip that begins Friday night in Anaheim against the Los Angeles Angels.
