Bob Melvin’s next victory will move him into sole possession of third place on the career wins list among Oakland A’s managers.
A student of Bay Area sports history and a Palo Alto native, surely that accomplishment will register with him. Asked about it on Tuesday, however, Melvin reflected more on his overall experience of managing the A’s for the past four years rather than his 368 victories with them.
This is his third managerial stop in the majors.
