OAKLAND — The A’s placed shortstop Marcus Semien on the 10-day disabled list Sunday after MRI results revealed a bone contusion in his right wrist.
The move is retroactive to Saturday.
Semien’s wrist has been bothering him since spring training, but worsened in Friday’s loss to Houston.
“Any time Marcus is out of the lineup it’s a concern,” A’s manager Bob Melvin has said before Saturday’s game. “He’s a tough guy who always wants to play and he has a high threshold for pain.”
Infielder Chad Pinder was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to take Semien’s spot on the roster.
