The Oakland Athletics have placed shortstop Marcus Semien on the 10-day disabled list with a right wrist contusion. The club has recalled infielder Chad Pinder from Triple-A Sacramento.
Semien told reporters at Saturday’s post-game press gaggle that the wrist had been bothering him since the spring, but that it had only just begun to bother him while throwing. Presumably, the extent of the injury and a sense of the timeline will be available during the pre-game presser with Bob Melvin around 11:15 a.m. Semien did not play in Saturday’s contest, so he will be eligible to return from the DL on April 25.
