OAKLAND -- A's left-hander Sean Manaea turned in a dominant performance against the Rangers, tossing a career-high-tying eight innings and getting ample run support en route to a 6-2 victory at the Coliseum on Wednesday night.
Oakland's four-run fourth inning, aided by a shaky Texas defense, was highlighted by Jed Lowrie's two-out, two-run single that sent Rangers starter Doug Fister out of the game. Lowrie also doubled in the seventh, which featured a Matt Olson RBI single.
Manaea struck out four, induced 10 groundouts and limited the Rangers to one run and three hits, all singles -- including a leadoff knock to Nomar Mazara in the fifth that led to Texas' lone run under his watch.
