NEW YORK – Jed Lowrie may be hitting himself right off the A’s roster.
Normally when that’s said about a player, it’s derisive, meaning he not hitting a lick. Lowrie is hitting everything in sight, however.
He had four hits Wednesday against the Marlins and then went 3-for-4 against the Yankees Friday night. His sixth-inning ground out ended a streak of seven consecutive at-bats with a hit, but he came back in the eighth inning and singled home the game’s first run as Oakland beat New York 4-1.
In his last seven games Lowrie has 16 hits including two hits in a game twice, three hits in a game twice and four hits in a game once.
