BALTIMORE — Jed Lowrie and Boog Powell homered, but it wasn’t enough as the A’s lost to the Baltimore Orioles 7-3 on Monday, falling for the fifth time in their last seven games and stumbling to a season-tying low 17 games under .500.
Baltimore blew the game open with a four-run fifth, turning a tight one-run lead into a 6-1 rout. Jonathan Schoop hit a three-run homer off Chris Smith and Adam Jones, hitting next, greeted reliever Ryan Dull with a blast into the left field seats, his second homer of the night.
Smith (0-3) gave up just six hits in 4 u2153 innings but two of them were costly homers.
