Why doesn’t Oakland and the A’s take a new look at the Victory Court location at Oak Street and Embarcadero? It was once the top candidate for a downtown stadium until the state took away Oakland’s redevelopment funds.
Why is the location not being currently considered? It has all the advantages of the Peralta site and is closer to downtown, Jack London Square, BART and Amtrak. Neighborhood development is booming and the 880 freeway separates the site from Laney College and other complaining neighbors.
The A’s could afford to relocate the few businesses. The fire department training facility could move to the old army base.
