Khris Davis hits home run by striking deal to stay in Oakland

OAKLAND — The Athletics have signed one of baseball’s most prolific home run hitters through the 2021 season.

The team agreed to a contract extension with slugger Khris Davis, Oakland executives announced today. Davis, 31, has a league-leading 10 home runs this year while batting .260.

He had 43 home runs and 110 runs batted in 2017 and had another 48 home runs last season to lead all major leaguers.

He has 143 home runs since the A’s acquired Davis in 2016. He also has 385 RBIs since arriving in Oakland.

“Oakland has been a special place for me since I arrived,” Davis said in a prepared statement.
