Silver linings are all that’s left for a last-place team playing out the string, and the A’s had quite a few in Tuesday night’s 6-3 loss to the Mariners.
How about Khris Davis? The left fielder hit his 42nd home run, matching his 2016 total, and the combined 84 over two years are tied with Miami’s Giancarlo Stanton for most in the majors. Davis’ latest homer was to right field, his specialty.
How about Daniel Mengden? The pitcher ran his scoreless innings streak to 19, making a run at making next year’s season-opening rotation, and exited with a 3-2 lead only to get tagged with the loss.
