SAN FRANCISCO — No A’s teammate was closer to Sonny Gray than pitcher Kendall Graveman.
The two lived across the hall from each other in a Walnut Creek apartment complex and established a special bond over the past three seasons, so it was tough for Graveman when he learned that his friend had been traded to the New York Yankees. Graveman even picked up Gray’s apartment keys and had a long conversation with him over the phone on Monday night as Gray prepared to head for the big apple.
“He was somebody you could just talk to,” Graveman said.
