OAKLAND -- Orioles pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez was forced out of Friday night's 5-4 loss to the Athletics in the sixth inning after getting hit in the leg by a sharp grounder, prematurely ending one of the right-hander's best outings this season.
Jimenez retired Khris Davis to open the sixth and worked a 3-2 count on Chad Pinder before Pinder slapped a hard grounder up the middle. The ball appeared to hit Jimenez near his right calf before deflecting away, allowing Pinder to reach on an infield single.

OAKLAND -- After trading for him Sunday, the A's called up outfielder Boog Powell from Triple-A Nashville on Friday afternoon.
