ARLINGTON, Texas – Jharel Cotton has never made an opening day start, but that ends Monday, sort of.
It’s the home opener for the Kansas City Royals, so all the pomp and circumstance that K.C. can deliver will be on hand.
Cotton, the A’s No. 3 starting pitcher, gets the call and is matched up with Ian Kennedy. Cotton not only says he’s ready for it, he says he’s been there before. His second big league start was in Kansas City last Sept. 13.
“They were in the middle of their playoff run, so it was a pretty exciting time then,” Cotton said.
