ARLINGTON, Texas - Oakland’s rotation, often in flux, has swapped out a starter less than a week into the season.
Rookie right-hander Raul Alcantara, who gave up eight runs in two innings Friday against the Rangers, will move to long relief and Jesse Hahn - who was the A’s No. 3 starter the first half of 2015 - will get the call Thursday at Kansas City. Hahn’s fastball hit 97 mph in relief Friday and he gave up two runs in six innings coming in after Alcantara.
“Give Raul a little bit of a break, that was a tough one for him,” manager Bob Melvin said Sunday.
