Jed Lowrie continues All-Star case with clutch double to lead A’s over Padres

OAKLAND — As the MLB All-Star Game approaches, Jed Lowrie’s case for making his first All-Star team only continues to get stronger.

Lowrie was the key cog in what was another comeback victory for the A’s Tuesday night, providing the climax of an explosive five-run sixth inning with a three-run double in a 6-2 win over the Padres.

Playing in front of a season-high crowd of 29,925 for what was Fourth of July themed fireworks night at the Coliseum, the A’s overcame an early 2-0 deficit with some fireworks of their own in the form of a pair of no-doubt solo home runs by Mark Canha and Chad Pinder.
