The 2020 postseason has arrived! The Oakland A’s are in the tournament, as was fully expected at the outset of the summer, and they made it there with the No. 2 seed in the American League after winning the AL West handily. Their 36-24 record would work out like 97 wins in a normal full season, which is exactly how they finished the previous two years.
Their opponent in the first round will be the Chicago White Sox, who earned the No. 7 seed as the first wild card. However, that belies the strength of their campaign — they won just one game fewer than Oakland, and actually tied for second in the tough AL Central but lost a tiebreaker on paper.
