Roster crunches tend to sort themselves out. 2 guys get injured, 2 more get traded, and there’s the surprise “Bay Bridge series DFA”. Even sillier is to worry about it mid-December, which is just to say that I am quite silly, because today I choose to worry about it.
The A’s situation seems particularly complex this year, due in part to multiple talented players who are out of options. Said players include pitchers Jesse Hahn, Raul Alcantara, Chris Hatcher, Liam Hendriks, and Santiago Casilla, along with 1B/DH prospect Renato Nuñez.
Where I start, with my thinking, is that the A’s really cannot — or at the very least should not — run with an 8-man bullpen and a bench with Nuñez.
