How Dustin Fowler looked in first A’s workout back from gruesome injury

MESA, Ariz. — The day Dustin Fowler had been anxiously awaiting for months finally came.

After the A’s outfielder sustained a devastating knee injury in his major league debut last June that ruptured his right patellar tendon on a collision with an electrical box in Chicago with the Yankees, Fowler had no choice but to undergo season-ending surgery.

Fowler was then acquired by the A’s the following month as part of the deal that sent Sonny Gray to New York, and arrived to Oakland on crutches with really no idea how long it would take to make a full recovery.
