Two years after he was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in 1997, Hudson took the mound for the first time in the majors. He pitched five innings, gave up seven hits, three runs, one homer, and four walks before he was relieved by Tim Worrell in an eventual 5-3 loss to the Padres on June 8, 1999.
