OAKLAND -- Behind an 11-strikeout performance from left-hander Cole Hamels, the Rangers used a pair of RBI hits from Rougned Odor and a Joey Gallo homer to top the A's, 4-1, at the Coliseum on Tuesday night.
Chad Pinder struck for a home run in the third inning against Hamels, but the A's managed just three other hits off the veteran, who recorded each of his first eight outs via strikeout. His 11 strikeouts in five innings, with 94 pitches thrown, are most by a Rangers pitcher in a start of five innings or less.
