I liked History class when I was in school.
I learned the names and the dates, because that’s what I needed to know to pass the tests, but what really interested me was the Why? Why did things happen? Why did events turn out the way they did? Sometimes, not often but sometimes, you could look back and find a pivotal moment that led to the eventual outcome. A decision point where something as simple as turning left or right, moving on or staying put, saying Yes or No, ultimately ended up producing a result more critical and complex than what one would expect from the original decision.
