Gray’s replacement in A’s rotation rocked by Royals

MESA, Ariz. –– In his first game as a starter after being confirmed as a member of the A’s starting rotation, Andrew Triggs focused on strengthening his fourth best pitch, the change-up.

In getting rocked for eight runs in just 3 2/3 innings of work as part of the A’s 10-3 loss to the Kansas City Royals on Monday, it’s fair to say that fourth pitch is very much still a work in progress.

Triggs made his Major League debut last season and played the role of a human yo-yo, going back and forth between the Big League club and Triple-A Nashville on eight separate occasions.
