Graveman returns to A’s roster, Gossett sent down

Kendall Graveman came off the A’s disabled list after missing nearly three months Thursday, and the A’s sent down Wednesday night’s winning starter to make room for him.

Daniel Gossett, who worked seven innings and allowed just three hits and a run in Oakland’s 6-1 win over the Giants, might be back soon: The team has days off each of the next two Mondays, providing some leeway to skip a starter. However, Gossett’s demotion also raises the possibility that Chris Smith, who pitched well as a fill-in, might return to the rotation should the A’s decide to give their regular starters the extra days off, as they often do, particularly with Graveman just coming off the DL.
