With Frankie Montas on the mound, the A’s fell behind early to a potent Indians’ offense thanks to Cleveland flexing some power at the plate. The team’s offense, to their credit, slowly and surely started to take bites out of that deficit, and at the top of the eighth inning the team was only down two runs, 5-3. It had been a frustrating game, with multiple baserunners getting thrown out on the base paths for Oakland, killing rallies before they had a chance to really take off. However, late inning comebacks have been back in style in Oak Town of late, and the air felt ripe for dramatics.
