Last year, when Khris Davis hit 42 home runs, he didn’t collect his first until April 21, over two weeks into the season. He’s already off to a faster start in 2017, khrushing two dingers against the Angels in the season opener. Those long balls, plus another by Stephen Vogt and a quality start from Kendall Graveman, helped the A’s to a 4-2 victory on Opening Day.
After losing the first game of the season for 10 straight years from 2005-14, the A’s have now won their opener two of the last three times.
