A’s top prospect Franklin Barreto was recalled from Triple-A Nashville Saturday afternoon.
After a solid spring training with the A’s, Barreto played in just one game for Nashville before getting called up to replace Chad Pinder, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a hyperextended left knee. An MRI revealed a bone bruise on the tibia of Pinder’s left knee, but showed no structural damage.
While Barreto was sad to hear the news on Pinder, a friend of his since their days together in the minor leagues, Barreto said he’s ready to give the team his all for as long as he’s up in the big leagues.
