MESA, Ariz. – There is probably only one open spot in the A’s bullpen with just over a week left in the Arizona portion of the spring, and rookie right-hander Frankie Montas may have as good a shot at nailing it down as anyone.
The club is debating whether to keep five outfielders or eight relievers, and the way things look now, having the extra outfielder seems to be winning out. That would mean just seven relievers make the club, and Ryan Madson, Santiago Casilla, John Axford, Sean Doolittle, Ryan Dull and Liam Hendriks all have secured berths.
